Ingredients of Dal Vada

  1. It's 1 cup of Bengal gram (Chana dal), soaked for 8-10 hours.

  3. It's 1 inch of Ginger piece.
  4. Prepare 12-15 of Curry leaves.
  5. You need 2 of Green Chilies.
  6. Prepare 3 tbsp of Chopped fresh Coriander leaves.
  7. Prepare 1 tbsp of Mint leaves.
  8. Prepare to taste of Salt.
  9. You need As required of Oil for deep frying.
  10. Prepare As per taste of Green Chutney to serve.

They are best eaten hot so you get the best of that. Moong Dal Vada recipe here is made with green moong dal or green gram which is a whole green gram and not the split one. It has been soaked for hours before making the actual vada. Coming back to Dal Vada, it is made using Chana Dal (Split Bengal Gram) and then deep-fried which results in a slightly heavier snack for.

Dal Vada step by step

  1. Finely chop onion and ginger and set them aside..
  2. Take a blender jar, add bengal gram, curry leaves and green chilies, coriander leaves, mint leaves, curry leaves and blend to a coarse paste. Scrape the sides of the blender jar in between..
  3. Transfer the mixture into a bowl, add salt, onion, ginger and mix well..
  4. Dampen your palms with water and flatten them slightly between your palms and set aside..
  5. Heat sufficient oil in a Kadai, deep fry till golden brown and crisp. Drain on an absorbent paper..
  6. Serve hot with green chutney..
